Commissioning of 2 x 5.2 MW Hydropower Project Lintau in Indonesia
The 10.4 MW Hydropower Project Lintau in Indonesia has been successfully commissioned. This project, located in the Lintau Buo sub-district of West Sumatra, signifies a step towards cleaner energy generation in Indonesia.
The first GUGLER megawatt-class water turbine goes into operation in Japan!
Together with Shizen Energy Inc., we have installed a 2.2 MW Pelton turbine and synchronous generator to the Kuroda Hydroelectric Power Plant (Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture) of Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Chubu Electric Power). The newly installed turbine started full-scale operation in April 2023.

Another large order from Peru
GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH has signed a major contract for the design, manufacture, transportation, supervision of installation and commissioning of a 6-jet vertical Pelton turbine with all necessary electromechanical equipment (including the large transformers for the Santa Ana and Campas substations) for the Anashironi hydropower project.
WAVE ENERGY: Exowave and Gugler enter into a cooperation agreement
Gugler Water Turbines makes a strategic move into the growing wave energy sector by signing an important cooperation agreement with Exowave. The partnership will see Gugler Water Turbines taking part in the ongoing EUDP project by Exowave “250 MW wave power in the Danish North Sea by 2030 – phase 1” as key provider for the pelton hydro turbine, including generator and electrical equipment.
33 MW Power Plant in Vietnam commissioned
In November 2022, GUGLER successfully put into operation the Dak Di 1 Hydro Power Plant in Vietnam. The plant is equipped with 2 vertical GUGLER Francis Turbines.
Switzerland – new contract for GUGLER
Romande Energie SA awarded GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH a turn key contract for the design, manufacture and testing in the workshop, transportation to site, installation on site, testing and commissioning on site of the hydromechanical, electromechanical, electrical and automation equipment required for the Glarey hydropower generation facility,located in city of Bex.
Philippines – new major contract for GUGLER
GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH signed a contract with Kiangan Mini Hydro Corporation for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of four Francis turbines and all required electro-mechanical equipment (including the switchgears for 69 kV grid connection) for the new 17.49 MW hydropower project Kiangan.
3.8 MW Seawater Hydropower Plant Commissioned in South Korea
GUGLER commissioned a 3.8 MW seawater Kaplan Pit Turbine in South Korea. The successful installation is another proof of GUGLER's experience in special-purpose and special-material hydropower projects.

Commissioning of 5 MW Kaplan Turbines in Vietnam
In June 2021, GUGLER successfully put into operation the BACH DANG Hydropower Plant in Vietnam. The plant is equipped with 2 horizontal GUGLER Kaplan Spiral Turbines.
Three Nozzle Pelton Turbine in Montenegro commissioned
Lately, GUGLER commissioned a Mini Hydropower Plant in Montenegro. The 3-nozzle Pelton Turbine in horizontal alignment will deliver an output of 398 kW.
Turkey – Major contract received

Sweden – Refurbishment of HPP Duved completed
In November 2020 GUGLER Water Turbines has successfully completed the refurbishment of the existing hydropower plant Duved.
USA – Two Francis Turbines for water treatment plant
The Board of Water Works of Pueblo in Colorado has awarded the contract for the design, supply, supervision of installation and commissioning of two Francis turbines with a capacity of 500 kW and 1000 kW for the Whitlock water treatment station.
Deanston Hydropower Plant commissioned
In November 2020 GUGLER commissioned DEANSTON hydropower plant at Deanston Distillery in the UK.
The GUGLER Kaplan Turbine is designed for an output of 355kW at 4,2m³/s flow. GUGLER supplied the Kaplan tubular turbine, the generator and the hydraulic power unit.
Commissionings in October 2020
Despite the ongoing COVID pandemic, several GUGLER hydropower plants have been installed and commissioned in October 2020.

Commissioning of completely revised 17 MW Hydropower Plant Nam Tha 4 in Vietnam
GUGLER Water Turbines commissioned two new GUGLER Francis Turbines, Butterfly Valves and HPUs for the Rehabilitation of a 17 MW Hydropower Plant in Vietnam.
Indonesia – 27 MW Krueng Isep HPP successfully commissioned
PT Senagan Energi, owned by PT Tamaris Hidro, awarded GUGLER Water Turbines the contract for the supply of a three vertical Pelton turbines with an installed capacity of almost 27 MW including the complete electromechancial equipment for its new Krueng Isep hydropower project, located in Acheh, West Sumatra.
Sri Lanka – two new hydropower plants commissioned
GUGLER Water Turbines has successfully commissioned HPP Ankanda (7.6 MW) and HPP Denipalle Oya (1.1 MW).
Turkey – Major contracts received
GUGLER Water Turbines continues to be a leading supplier of turbine technology to the Turkish hydropower market.

In June 2019 GUGLER Water Turbines has successfully commissioned two (2) vertical Pelton turbines with 6 nozzles with a power output of 10 MW each for Hedcor Inc., a company of renowned Aboitiz group.

The Austrian Company GUGLER Water Turbines was able to demonstrate its leading position in the Indonesian small hydropower sector in 2017 with the takeover of a whole series of projects. Shortly before the turn of the year, another reference plant in Southeast Asia was commissioned: the Tanjung Tirta hydropower plant owned and operated by PT Maji Biru Pusaka.
Austria – successful commissioning of HPP Vordergössgraben
GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH has successfully commissioned one (1) vertical Pelton turbine with six nozzles for the hydro power plant Vordergössgraben, located in Trofaiach, in December 2017. This investment was made by the Austrian industrial group Mayr-Melnhof and its partners.
Montenegro – first turbine installed for HPP Bukovica
After providing hydro turbines more than fifty (50) hydro power plants in the Balkan region over the past decade GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH has supplied and installed its first Pelton turbine in Montenegro this summer.
Serbia – Major order for (3) Kaplan Pit Turbines received
GUGLER Water Turbines has been awarded a major contract for the supply of three (3) horizontal Kaplan Pit Turbines with a runner diameter of 2.85 m, including synchronous generators, gearboxes and hydraulic power units for the hydropower project Rekovici in Serbia.
Honduras – Successful commissioning of 18 MW Pencaligue HPP
In July 2018 GUGLER Water Turbines has successfully put into operation the hydropower plant Pencaligue in Honduras:
The project consists of three (3) horizontal Pelton turbines with two jets, including the complete electromechanical equipment.

In December 2016 Hidroeléctricas de Occidente S. de R.L. has awarded GUGLER Water Turbines a contract for the supply of three (3) horizontal Pelton turbines with two jets, including the complete electromechanical equipment for the hydropower project Pencalique in Honduras.
Lebanon – Refurbishment of four hydropower plants
GUGLER Water Turbines came off as winner at the international call for bids for the refurbishment of four existing hydropower plants of the state-owned utility La Kadischa.
Guatemala – Order for the hydropower San Jose
The company Flores y Bosques SA has placed a further order for the delivery of one vertical 5-jet Pelton turbine with an output of 430 kW for the new hydropower plant San Jose.

GUGLER Water Turbines was awarded a further contract from Europe’s largest utility Electricite de France (EdF) for the hydropower project Strasbourg.
Latvia – Follow-up order for HPP Brenguli
GUGLER Water Turbines receives the order for the supply of a second vertical Kaplan turbine with an output of 118 kW with direct coupled generator for the existing small hydropower plant Brenguli.
Switzerland – Horizontal Kaplan Pit Turbine for Hagneck
The company BKW FMB Energie AG located in Bern places an order with GUGLER Water Turbines for the supply of one horizontal Kaplan Pit tubine for the ecological flow hydropower plant Hagneck.
Macedonia – Consolidation of the leading market position
