Chile – an important market for GUGLER Water Turbines

HES Mejillones: Tractebel awarded GUGLER Water Turbines the design and engineering contract for two horizontal Kaplan Pit turbines with 2244 kW and 2146 kW to be installed in the cooling water systems of a coal-fired thermal power plant in Chile. The power plant is located on the coast and uses seawater for its cooling. The cooling water, which is currently being pumped back into the sea, will in the future pass through the two Kaplan turbines to generate electricity.

2) Montandon HPP : GUGLER Water Turbines has won the tender for the supply of one horizontal, two-jet Pelton turbine and related electro-mechanical equipment for the Montandon hydroelectric power plant owned by CODELCO, the world’s largest copper producer.
The Pelton turbine is 2114 kW with a net head of 120 m at a discharge of 2.0 m³/s.
