Austria – successful commissioning of HPP Vordergössgraben

GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH has successfully commissioned one (1) vertical Pelton turbine with six nozzles for the hydro power plant Vordergössgraben, located in Trofaiach, in December 2017. This  investment was made by the Austrian industrial group Mayr-Melnhof and its partners.

HPP Vordergössgraben was designed for a net head of 91.5 m and nominal flow of is 1.74 m3/s with an installed capacity of 1.4 MW. GUGLER supplied and installed also the water cooled synchronous generator, inlet valve and hydraulic power unit. GRP pipes were used for the penstock of around 5 km.

HPP Vordergössgraben is the second hydropower plant of the Mayr-Melnhof group which was equipped with GUGLER turbine technology. Earlier in 2016 GUGLER supplied already one (1) similar vertical Pelton turbine with six jets for the hydropower station Hintergössgraben located upstream of HPP Vordergössgraben. HPP Hintergössgraben was designed for the net head of 112 m and nominal flow of 1 m3/s, generating 1.05 MW.
