GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH is a family business whose members have been engaged for the last three generations in the development and the supply of water turbines and small hydropower plants. What the grandfather of our founders, Rupert Gugler, created more than 100 years ago for 30 households, today has global benefits for entire areas.
Today, GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH is a globally active company, which provides all types of water turbines (Kaplan, Francis and Pelton turbines) and installs them in existing or new plants. We specialise in the supply of turnkey systems to our customers, including the entire electromechanical equipment for a hydropower plant.
Our company currently has more than 65 employees and we can count on hundreds of manufacturing specialists at our partner companies, as well as decades of experience of our founders in the hydropower segment.

Development & Technology
Continuous improvement for highest efficiency and functionality
Simulations and model tests provide confidence. Continuous customer feedback leads to excellent functionality and reliability.
Our development and technology department carries out simulations using powerful CFD software in order to continuously optimize the efficiency of our turbines. The turbine geometries of our turbines are mainly based on model tests that were carried out in well-known fluid dynamics institutes. Operational security is assured by the use of latest FEM (finite elements method) software for strength calculations and for the study of transient pressure phenomena. Thanks to continuous development, our turbine design is always one step ahead.
With state-of-the-art equipment, outstanding specialist knowledge and a great pioneering spirit, we have developed into one of the worldwide leading providers of small hydropower plants and their technologies and can score with high European quality.
