A Master’s Thesis at GUGLER

At GUGLER, we believe in supporting talent and inspiring the next generation of innovators. Over the past eight months we’ve had the privilege of working with a talented Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Twente. His project? Truly something special.

The aim was to develop an AI-powered system for condition monitoring in hydropower plants—a solution designed to improve efficiency and reliability. This project wasn’t just about theory; it tackled real-world challenges at the core of the transition to sustainable energy, showing how technology can pave the way for a greener future.

What made this collaboration stand out was how practical it was. Ideas didn’t just stay on paper; they became reality. The highlight of the project was the design and 3D printing of a fully functional Francis turbine—a tangible result that proved innovation can be brought to life in exciting and creative ways.

As this talented student embarks on the next chapter of his career in Austria’s dynamic hydropower sector, we’re excited to see where his passion and vision will take him. Collaborations like this are exactly why we’re committed to supporting the individuals and students who are shaping the future of renewable energy.
