Georgia – new contracts from Caucasus

Georgian International Energy Corporation (GIEC), a major power company in Georgia has contracted GUGLER Water Turbines for the supply of two Francis runners for its hydropower stations Kakhareti (net head : 41.2 m – 902 kW) and Racha  (net head : 277 m – 5.6 MW). Both Francis runners were completely machined on 5 axis CNC machine tools out of monobloc forged Cr Ni steel. Delivery took place in May 2017. The power output in both hydropower stations could be increased due to the higher efficiency of the new runners.

HPP Bodorna: In June 2017 Georgian Water&Power LLC has awarded GUGLER Water Turbines the contract for the supply of one (1) horizontal Kaplan pit turbine with an installed capacity of 2556 kW,designed for a net head of 8.1m and a discharge of 35m3/s, together with gear box, generator, HPU and the complete electrical & control equipment for the hydropower project Bodorna, to be built near Tbilisi.
