Successful year 2007 and positive outlook for 2008
For GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH a successful year is coming to its end. The continuous market diversification, in particular in Latin America and innovative turbine concepts, have brought the expected success.
The order intake could be tripled in 2007 against the previous year.
We expect a further increase in order intake, sales and profit in the year 2008.
We take the opportunity to thank all our clients, suppliers and partner companies for the support and trust in us and wish them all a lot of success in the year 2008. We look forward to a further fruitful cooperation.
December 2007 / Estonia : Kaplan Turbine delivered
Shortly before Christmas one(1) vertical Kaplan turbine with belt drive , asynchronous generator, governor and LV-switchgears were completed in time and delivered to Kamari Hüdro in Estonia.
The output of the turbine is 311 kW; net head of 5 m and flow of 7.2 m3/s.
November 2007 / Ecuador and Colombia : Major contracts from Latin America
Our intensive market activities in Latin America has lead to two further major contracts in Ecuador and Colombia:
For hydropower plant San Jose de Minas in Ecuador the supply of the following equipment was awarded GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH:
One(1) horizontal Pelton Turbine,3 nozzles, with output of 6.2 MW, generator, shut-off valves, hydraulic power unit, governor and complete automation (SCADA System) including remote control of the power plant.
Net head is 270 m and flow 2.6.m3/s.
For hydropower plant Santa Rita in Colombia the supply of the following equipment was awarded to GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH:
One(1) horizontal Francis Spiralturbine with output of 1.3 MW, synchronous generator and shut-off valve .
The control system, switchgears and transformers will be supplied by our consortium partner VATECH Colombia Ltda.
In November 2007 GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH delivered successfully the complete electromechanical equipment for the new hydropower plants Kaleto I+II in Bulgaria, consisting of
two(2) Francis Spiralturbines with output of 2.3 MW and 410 kW, generators, shut-off valves, hydraulic power units, control and automation systems, as well as LV +MV switchgears and transformers.

October 2007 / First major contract from France
EDF (Electricite de France ), Europe’s largest power supplier, has awarded GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH the design, supply and installation of one(1) horizontal Kaplan turbine with output of 1572 kW, synchronous generator and hydraulic power unit .
The innovative turbines concept was decisive for this award.
September 2007 / Brazil : Francis runners delivered
Seven(7) Francis runners of welded design in stainless and highly resistant quality X5 Cr Ni 13 4 were completed and delivered as part of the contract received from Energ Power last year for the following new hydropower projects:
Curua : 3 Francis runner, 7.8 MW each. One will be delivered later in October.
Mambai: 2 Francis runners,6.25 MW each
Fumaca: 2 Francis runners, 2.34 MW each
The individual parts are cast, pre-machined, assembled and welded together, afterwards annealed and final machining as well as dynamic balancing takes place. Each of the different working steps are subject to a rigorous quality control checks. Besides material tests all necessary non-destructive examinations have been made to guarantee the highest possible quality.
